Yesterday was just a car-filled day – some 480 miles! The drive in the morning was worth it – lots of reds, yellows, and greens. Lots of semis on the road. Lots of closed factories along the way as well.
The class went well, some good people in a huge store. Stopped for a bar-b-q restaurant on the way back. Not the sweet bar-b-q that I prefer but the meat was soooo tender. Lovely. They were having a Halloween costume contest at the restaurant so it was kind of fun to watch while I ate.
Made it back about 11 pm and pretty much went to bed.
Up early this morning and over for our meeting. That didn’t quite go as planned and is mostly wanting me grab my good friend Jim Beam and wallow in a corner somewhere. I’ll have to figure out some more things and let all that absorb into my little brain.
It’s warmer today and looks to be nice. I have some time to kill before the flight so I don’t know what I’ll do. I need to stay away from places that have alcohol….

After a wonderful prime rib again (just like February’s visit) we went back to the hotel. We only worked for a few minutes so I almost went ahead and drove to Charlotte. I was feeling awake after all. I packed up everything and was about to leave around 9pm when I opted to just fall asleep and get a good night’s sleep. Spending seven to eight hours of a day driving doesn’t sound the most fun. At least this way I’ll have daylight to drive there in so I can see some of the countryside…
My class is in the afternoon so I have a bit of time to get some more work done before leaving.
In the back of my mind I wanted to leave early enough to go to the hotel that is charging me anyway and go strip the bed and mess up the bathroom so that they have something to clean…. If they are charging me anyway….

Getting to go to the Georgia Aquarium yesterday was nice indeed. It’s half price in the last hour – good since the regular price is $26! Parking was still $10 though. It’s an amazing place but two of the big exhibits are under construction so you miss a bit for the price. I was able to see everything in about 30 minutes and spent the last 30 minutes just watching the big tank with the whale sharks. It’s just calming to sit there and watch. I hope to be able to get SCUBA certified sometime soon so that I can swim with the fishes sometime soon!
I got stuck in traffic for some sporting event and was within four blocks for almost an hour! I was almost out of gas. I was afraid I would I run out while stuck in traffic. I put 16.8 gallons into a 15 gallon tank. Ouch.
I walked around Olympic Park, it was about 50 degrees and windy so I was almost frozen. Everything costs a lot of money and strangely closes early. I saw the CNN building – not much to see…
I wasn’t feeling well last night, kind of feverish, very head-achey, and mostly not very good. I tried to go to sleep but just kept drifting in and out. Tim made it about midnight and then I slept okay for a while. 6 am came very quickly but we made it to our class today.
Just got out and although it was interesting and high energy – seemed to take four days! Happy to have that done. We got to see our favorite merchant and even ran into the lady who runs the computer pricing thing during lunch. It was nice to see everyone.
I was supposed to drive to Charlotte tonight, I think I’ll take advantage of Tim and I being in one place instead. They wouldn’t let me cancel the reservation though. Bastards.
Some dinner, lots of work and then an early morning drive to Charlotte for a class, then turn right around and back to Atlanta. Can you say fun?

The drive from Nashville to Atlanta was fine. Nothing much to see. I think I just figured out why New Mexico sunsets are so pretty – because we can see them! Everywhere else where there those tall things with leaves – what are the called….. oh yeah, TREES! They have sunsets, it’s just that nobody can see them. The trees are changing everywhere and it was beautiful. Not so much roadkill as our visit from Birmingham to Atlanta in February. Only one deer.
The first class of the day was good, but short. I have a small break now before the next one.
I had hoped that I could get to the big ol’ Georgia Aquarium but they close at 5 and they don’t let anyone in after 4pm. Damn!
I have a lot of prep-work to get done on the computer tonight so I bet I’ll just be working late in the room instead of going anywhere. Probably better, safer, and cheaper that way!
What a silly way to spend a night in a larger city…

When a hotel is only $39 a night – I need to remember to ask ‘why’?
Ends up there is a railyard across the highway and all night long you hear freight trains coming in, being unloaded, etc. Very noisy. I left the TV on to help drown out the sound. Oh well. Just one night here.
I had to rush to the Post Office this morning to mail out some bills that are due – just my luck, the first pick-up isn’t until 1pm. Again, oh well.
I’ve been playing phone tag all morning long already and waiting for someone to get to the office this morning. First class in about 40 minutes as well.
Have a happy week!

Where Am I

This was the view when I left this morning. It was kind of pretty.
The flights were unremarkable. They were offering big cash to get off in Kansas City, but I wouldn’t have made it to my hotel until midnight, so I let some other people be late…
The Nashville airport was much larger than I remember, or maybe it has always been under construction the previous trips? Like Austin, they have musicians playing throughout the place so it’s always fun to hang around. I was excited to be able to look around on the flight out – doh! I’m NOT flying out from here!

No go on either campaign rally yesterday. I let my Mom go to McCain. Is was not a problem getting into the fairgrounds – not a good sign for support if you ask me. She got to be about 20 feet from him and was very excited to get to see him. Railee didn’t get to go with her friend.
The expectations were high for getting to go to Obama last night but the more anyone talked it seemed like it was just going to start later. I ended up having to go home to pick up the family and we went and had Thai food close to the house. I avoided the UNM area completely and went downtown to see Mick.
Mick's 60th Birthday
I got to see Leonard – who has worked for the security company for probably 20 years. Then Mick, it was wonderful to see him again – it seems that we see eachother less every year. He looked great and was in good spirit and health. Crystal was in from Phoenix and she got to meet the kids, she had only seen pictures of them in the past. Mike from Prestige – formally of Prestige as he finally sold off the company – was there and was in good form as well. I was able to meet some of the company that took over the city convention center as well.
It was kind of fun to reminisce about the ‘old’ days with everyone. I think that Jaeden and Railee were witness a bit more of my ‘old’ life in that room last night. I think – just a Poppa’s view – that they were a little more impressed with the stories that were going around than before that car ride.
I’m off for an early flight…
