Happy B-Day to: my iPhone

Yes, it’s hard to believe that you are ONLY a year old today. It seems like only yesterday that I was counting down the days until you were born. Then I waited in a short line for you. I had you activated later that same night and you started running immediately – no learning to crawl for you!
You gave me a few gray hairs – not unlike a teenager. But you turned out alright.
I even received a pricing rebate after being willing to shell out my hard-earned dollars for you. A bonus, none the less. Used that credit towards an AppleTV.
So now you are a whopping 365 days old. Your warranty just expired. You are not unlike an aged old man – ready for the old folks home.
There have been other ‘whippersnappers’ that have come along and took some of your ‘newness’ away. Regardless of the competition, you blazed the trail to allow such technology to make it to the rest of the world. Only those of us early adopters new you and loved you from the beginning.
So that brings me to my dilemma? Do I put you out to pasture? Do I dare look in the direction of the new 3G version of you?
I haven’t made up my mind as to how much I need iPhone 2.0. Regardless I feel like we have lived a happy coexistence. You have rarely let me down and you continue to impress those that I show you off to.
Happy Birthday, my friend. My iPhone v1.0…

Okay. Big, long day today. I have to go to the factory and get started on everything that I NEED to get done before all the filming needs to start. Payroll. POP Printing. Pay payroll taxes. Deal with whatever new needs the kids need.
Then I have to go pick up the mic from Studio-Z. Between now and then I have to figure out WHAT I will be shooting. An outline may be in order. I don’t need no stinkin’ script!
It should be a interesting day.

Today’s Bike Ride

Map for the day
Distance: 9.8 miles Time: ??

I took my sister Brenda along the Bosque trail this morning since she was here. She was amazed with how nice the trail was – and all the ‘new’ stuff that Albuquerque has to offer.
The idea was that I was going to ride my bike and let her ride Sunnee’s. Sunnee’s had some tire issues so I was going to get Railee’s ready for her. That back tire was failing to keep air in it so she was going to get Jaeden’s. I was pumping my front tire up and broke the valve stem clean off. That meant that I was going to have to fix Railee’s tires in order for this trip. It took almost an hour to get over to my Mom & Dad’s house…. So we were both adults on some kid sized bikes. She was wearing flip flops since she hadn’t planned on going bike riding. I bet we looked funny.
The ride was nice. I had been telling Brenda about all the wildlife I see on my rides – elephants, camels, coyotes, tarantulas, bunnies, etc. We were down by Tingley Beach and sure enough – a coyote was between the trail and the Rio Grande. He has some cool markings and I couldn’t get the camera out in time. He blended perfectly with the bosque. Brenda was happy to see it.
It was a [another] good ride in Albuquerque!

Note to self: Don’t play Disney’s Toontown until 3:30 in the morning.
Unless you have played the game, you just won’t understand. I had to beat twenty, level four or higher cog buildings and it takes a while to find friends to play with…. Nobody understands me.
My sister and her son are here from Colorado and we went to my parent’s house last night for dinner and to visit with them. We lit some fireworks as well.
This morning I took two bikes over so Brenda and I could ride together along the Bosque…
Then yardwork for several hours and now posting before the night is over. Busy, busy week coming up so I am kind of freaked out over the whole thing.

I got in late, late last night. If you hadn’t figured out from the temperature alone – maybe the cactus too – I was in Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona this past week.
Getting to the airport was a crazy, long ordeal – but I made it okay. Mick and some of his friends came and met me at the airport before I left. That was nice.
I slept well and don’t feel so bad today, maybe it’s getting better? I had wanted to go on a bike ride but needed to get to the factory to catch up on some stuff. I have to produce a two hour training video this week so I need all the extra time I can muster. I have no idea how I will do this but I have lots of friends helping me out. Cynthia is volunteering her cool digital camera, Dave is letting me borrow a wireless lavalier mic. Enrique just called and he will help me edit something together. I just hope it all works out. It has to be overnighted no later than Monday the 7th so that the DVD’s are all in place for Tuesday the 8th. The hard thing is that I fly out again on the 6th so there really is not much time.
Maybe I’ll hit the bike tomorrow?

Nevermind about the heat making me feel better. Yesterday was a bit rough. The drive last night seemed to take forever and there was so much roadwork that I couldn’t exit the freeway to get to the hotel. That added about 20 minutes as well.
I crashed relatively early and got some good sleep. My lungs feel full this morning still and I keep coughing. Maybe the heat will help today?
I have seven stores to hit this morning before my 1 o’clock class…

Strange Days

I finished my class and stopped by to see Mick. He doesn’t make it out to New Mexico much as there aren’t many shows anymore.
He was at the Tempe Center for the Arts – a $60 million city venue that is pretty impressive.
tca
He was doing a show with Joe Bonamassa, a real cool blues guy. Mick was excited to introduce me to his friend Carmine that was on tour. Afterwards, I figured out who he was – it was Carmine Rojas!
Carmine Rojas in Joe Bonasmassa's Band
Carmine Rojas has played with: David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Santana, Stevie Wonder and tons of others. He stays very busy as both a studio musician and incredible tour guy. I can’t remember why, but for some reason I was having a discussion with someone about Bowie’s Glass Spider Tour and how awesome the players (and concert) were. Mick knew him from the Julian Lennon tours of the mid 80’s. It was fun to see two old friends remember the ‘old days. It was cool to meet him.
I wish I could have stayed for the show but had to get on the road…

Where Am I?

Where Am I - June 26, 2008
Still another hot day. That big smoke thing ended up being a fire that was started by lightning.
The smoke is blowing into the city and makes the west side look like this. Ash is covering the cars.
Other than hot, any ideas?
