It is very hard to get my butt out of bed when it’s in the teens outside. We keep the house pretty cold as well so it’s just plain difficult to get out from the covers.
We found something sort of wrong with the Home Depot thing – I’m awaiting an email as to how much they will charge me to change it. It would take about 3 minutes to change the code, but I’m sure they’ll charge me about $600. I’ll update tomorrow…

Today is Wednesday

Life: Indifferent Work: Frustrated
Weight: Hours of Sleep:
Strange, kind of gloomy day. I woke up later than I wanted as I had intended to go in early and work on some financial stuff. Had to clean the kitchen from last night’s dinner as we were too tired to do it then and I did a couple loads of laundry before leaving the house.
It almost kills the day to get a late start…

The wind blew about 30-50mph all night long. It started snowing so it was just cold and blowy all night. In true Albuquerque fashion – they cancelled school so we all got a big breakfast together! Woo hoo!
I finished testing the Home Depot computer thing so now I just have to wait for Atlanta to schedule a visit for us. Oh, I can’t say how much I’m looking forward to that!

I went on another ride yesterday. Note to self: i need some running pants and a headband that will just cover my ears. Otherwise I’m pretty good it was in the high 40’s with a slight wind.
Hopefully – and I am really hoping here – that by the time I get to work today that the Home Depot computer thing will be available to me AND that they have a FINAL INVOICE!
Everything else is going well – Railee finally came home (she had a busy weekend) and approves of the TV.

Today is Sunday

So, a good night’s sleep and a good day so far…
AppleTV update: My iMac is hardwired ethernet and the Airport uses it’s own DCHP so even though they are on the same subnet – the IP’s are not in the same series. Broken down – I have to hardwire the AppleTV to make it work. But it DOES work. It is very cool.
The picture quality on things from iTunes is PERFECT! I had downloaded the pilot for the new Terminator series and it’s just like watching a DVD. Movies that I have made specifically for the iPhone still look a bit cruddy – but the program I use is optimized for pre-iPhone video. I will work on that.
It moves my photos, music, movies, tv etc from my iTunes to the AppleTV – it has an option to NOT move the files over and just stream them. My suggestion, so far – is just to make a Playlist/Photo Album named AppleTV and just move what you want! I could move all 13 GB of my music – but realistically I don’t need that. The same with movies. I don’t see using it as a repository – just as a temporary holding space while I watch the movies. I went for the 40 GB version for this exact reason. IF I do choose to actually purchase a movie for $9.99 – i would move it over. I just don’t see that happening very often as there are not THAT many worthy movies.
Maybe only The Blues Brothers, Stripes, The Holy Grail, Arthur, Caddyshack…. hmmmm. You know. Just the classics 🙂

This is us being excited after the tv was delivered

Today’s Bike Ride

First of 2008!
Map for the day
Distance: 11.7 miles Time: ?? minutes
Avg Speed: ?? mph Top Speed: ?? mph
Calories Burned: Not enough to burn the cookies I’ve been eating

It’s been 54 days since I’ve been on my bike!!! I haven’t exactly been packing on the pounds – but I just missed being outside. Today was not as warm as it was supposed to be but in shorts, it still wasn’t bad when when wind came up.
I had intended to go further but once I was on the bike – I did NOT want to make the ride back up the ‘hill’ to the house. I opted for my Unser run.
I remembered that I needed a tool at Home Depot to take the pump off the pond (another story) so I ran by there and picked one up. Then I continued down Coors to the bike shop and got some new pedals with a toe cage on them as my ride to the Volcanos broke my twenty-year old ones.
A quick jaunt back home and I was set. It felt great.
I had to take a nap…

Okay – here’s what I’ve been so excited about:
New TV
So…. I have this site that I look at every day that just posts ‘deals’. It’s magically called
I am not so impulsive of a shopper, but every now and then they truly have something that I want or need. I’ve picked up digital cameras, SD cards, headphones, etc. over the past year. Nothing over $100 – ever.
So, end of December I’m looking through and they have a link for BestBuy for a 56″ Panasonic LCD, rear projection TV – NEW (not refurb) for $900. It came with a three year warranty on the lamp and a one year warranty on the TV. This is about $700 less than anything comparable and it had good review across the net. I looked online for about 90 minutes and finally decided that I would be stupid not to purchase it. I did everything online and was done. Within 30 minutes of purchasing my whole household was arguing downstairs over something trivial – the tv. I went through instant buyer’s remorse as what had I done? Luckily I got over it in about a week.
I purposely didn’t have it delivered until after we got back from Nashville as I didn’t want to have it come and then leave town with nobody knowing what to do. I did tell Sunnee, but not the kids. It was all I could do NOT to use it as a weapon to get them to do good things and an even better test of my resolve to not let it slip out in conversations.
They were supposed to be here between 9 and 11 – they showed up at 8:30! They were in and out within ten minutes! Just delivery – no set up as that would be an extra $200…
They warned us not to turn it on for 30 minutes to let the set warm up to room temperature as it had been in the truck all night. That was a most painful 30 minutes for Jaeden and I. In the mean time, I set up:
Apple TV
With all the new rental stuff with iTunes I figured it was a good deal. They have been throwing the refurb 40GB versions at the Apple Store for $30 less than the new ones. Oh the things I do.
So – we get the TV up and running – hooked up to everything. The satellite is coming through ok, can’t get broadcast to work but that’s because there’s no separate input on the tv for that. The AppleTV LOOKS incredible but will not sync to my computer. I have been working on that most of the day. Dirk and Kat can laugh all they want as IF there is ANY chance for an Apple product to not work – I will get that product. It’s just Steve Jobs’ way of testing me…

Today is Saturday

Life: Happy Work: Happy
Weight: Hours of Sleep:
This is the day! My spur-of-the-moment purchase from December 30th will be delivered today. I will post the details later – with pictures….
Yesterday ended up kind of strange. Lots of plans for signing documents – I planned that.
On the way into work I ended up in a shouting match with the Home Depot computer guys. They are just being unreasonable and keep changing their stories. It got a bit heated but in the end – the saw the evils of their ways and actually made the changes that we needed. I hope that we are within a few weeks of being done with that whole chapter of my life.
Delivery between 9am and 11am. It’s supposed to be warm enough for a bike ride so I have a busy day today!
