Agreed. I like one-on-one conversations better – without bringing in the co-host or band leader into the conversation. I used to like watching Charlie Rose for that same reason. Now that I’m thinking about it, I used to like when Tom Russert or – even better – Bob Costas! would do special interviews. There’s so much better conversation when intelligence is thrown into the mix. That has become lost with a lot of these shows.

I watched Tom Snyder, way back when. I thought he was smart and funny. The ambiance of his show, made you feel like when you have a sleep over, everyone else is asleep and just you and he are talking softly, with lights low…a time when secret, intimate things are disclosed! lol Now, I most like Dave and Craig of the late night talkers!
